Are you living the life of your dreams? Is your health, fitness, career, love life, family life and financial status where you would like it to be? If not, you are not alone. In today’s society most people are living to survive, not to thrive. The most common reasons or excuses that we hear for this are a lack of time or money, feeling unclear about what they want, or even fear keeping them from living the life they desire. The truth is that all of these reasons are fear based ego thoughts.
Let us explain. It’s commonly believed that “the ego” is a bad thing and we have to get rid of it. That’s not actually true. Our egos are there to keep us safe by alerting us of anything it feels is dangerous. The ego often does its job too well and keeps us from moving forward, even toward what we want. Why? Because the ego is afraid of growth and change.
Many people think they don’t have the time, money or energy to focus on creating their dreams because that is the excuse their ego is telling them. When something is really important to us we can always find the resources (time, money, energy, etc.) necessary to focus on it. It’s just a matter of making it a priority and learning how to work with your ego to become its partner, rather than opponent. The first step is to make a list of what your priorities have been and a list of what you would like your priorities to be, putting the most important on top. One step at a time you can make small shifts to help you align your life with what you do want.
